Self-supporting smart air filters based on PZT/PVDF electrospun nanofiber composite membrane

Smart air filters are beneficial to provide highly efficient particle removal, treat multiple contaminants simultaneously and conserve energy during filtration processes. Herein, a type of self-supporting smart filter (SSSAF) was fabricated by sandwiching the VOC-responsive PZT/PVDF electrospun membrane with two metal mesh electrodes. Besides high efficiency for sub-micron particles, SSSAF showed good responses pressure drop in range 0 500 Pa via electroactivity membrane. In addition, achieved VOC sensing function swelling properties organic vapors, demonstrated its signal 50 200 ppm ethanol vapors. The employed harvest wind energy, which further applied inhibit bacterial growth without need additional power input. Our designed take advantage carried flow, is necessary any system thus brings stable innate source. results new insight into development all-in-one filters.
